Lying in the surgical ICU of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, 21-year-old Naila was found in an unconscious state by the police with multiple fractures of the mid-shaft humerus, the pelvic bone, and the distal part of right leg. The patient, whose whereabouts are still unidentified, was brought to the hospital’s Emergency in a critical condition over two weeks ago. At that time, she needed the support of a ventilator but was weaned off three days later as her condition improved. Even though Naila was yet to disclose her personal and family details, the treating physician requested Heartfile for immediate financial grant of Rs. 80,000 on behalf of the patient to be able to save her life. Swift processing of the request has enabled doctors to perform the necessary surgical procedures. The patient’s condition has improved considerably ever since.
