When Samina broke her arm, she had no possible means with which to pay for the operation. Her husband, who suffers from a spinal condition, no longer works and is indebted to the tune of Rs. 90,000 in accrued rent. He used to be on a daily wage but work is now an impossibility for him. Samina and her family live in a single room in a relative’s house. There is no income and it is only through zakat and the charity of neighbours and friends has enabled them to keep body and soul together.
A doctor at the PIMS Orthopedics department requested Heartfile to provide financial assistance for Samina’s operation for an amount of Rs. 16,500. This request was approved and after a successful operation, Samina has returned to her life in Kahuta.
